School of Economics and Management
The School of Economics and Management at Nanjing Tech University can be traced back to 1958, when the Liberal Arts Teaching and Research Section of the newly-independent Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology was established. Student recruitment began in 1979 in the areas of Economics and Management, and Departments of Economics, Management, and the Humanities were formed in the 1980s. The School of Economics and Management at Nanjing University of Chemical Technology was established in January 1999. The 2001 merger of the Nanjing University of Chemical Technology with the Nanjing Institute of Architectural and Civil Engineering resulted in the establishment of the Nanjing Tech University. The current School of Economics and Management was formed after the conformity of Humanities, Economics and Management, Law and other related disciplines.
Discipline Survey
The School of Economics and Management offers the first-class programs in Business Administration under the categories of Economics and Management. These areas were nominated by the university as key disciplines to be supported during the Eleventh Five- Year Plan. The characteristics and distinctive features of these programs have been developed according to the University's policy of adhering to the highest academic standards. The School currently offers a first-class master's degree program in Business Administration; a first-class master's degree program in Management Science and Engineering; master's degree programs in Enterprise Management, Technical Economics and Management; MBA; master's degree program in Project Management and engineering master's degree programs. It also offers 9 bachelor's degree programs in Business Administration, International Economics and business, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resources Management, Industrial Engineering, Information Management & Science, and Electronic Business. Ten department-level organizations have been set up accordingly.
Scientific Research and Service
The Technical Innovation Association of Jiangsu Province, led by Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Department, was established at the School of Economics and Management at Nanjing Tech University. In addition, the School has set up a number of other research institutes including: the State Intellectual Property Training Base (Jiangsu), Jiangsu Provincial Intellectual Property Human Resources Training Base, Research Center of Technical Innovation and Integration of Production, Teaching and Research, Jiangsu Research Institute of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Finance Institute, Institute of Industrial Economics, Institute of System Economy, Institute of Technology Economy, Institute of Modern Business Administration, the Institute of Sustainable Production and Consumption, etc. The School has undertaken or participated in 12 state-level research projects, more than 30 provincial level projects and more than 50 city level projects, and has won many prestigious awards at the city and provincial level. The accumulated research fund obtained by the faculty members is on the top of that of all the Schools of liberal arts at the university. In the last few years, prominent faculty members have published more than twenty monographs and textbooks, and more than one hundred papers in core periodicals. Scores of the papers have been included in EI, SCI and Xinhua Digest. The School stresses international exchanges and has built up strong relationship with foreign universities such as Massey University of New Zealand, the University of Applied Sciences, Leipzig, Germany and Nagoya Sangyo University, Japan.
The School has been actively engaging in providing social services. It has helped train more than one thousand talented people from government offices and enterprises in economics and management, and the School has provided consulting services to Nanjing Municipal Government, provincial departments and to more than one hundred private enterprises.
