Brief Introduction
The School of Safety Science and Engineering was formed in 2015. The School consists of three teaching units, i.e. Safety Engineering, Fire Engineering and Experimental Teaching Center, and three two institutes i.e. Institute of Safety Engineering and Fire Engineering. It boasts the key discipline of "Safety Technology and Engineering" in Jiangsu Province; the post-doctoral research center of "Mining Engineering" and "Safety Science and Engineering"; one PhD degree programs for " Safety Science and Engineering " ; 2 master's degree programs for "Mining Engineering" and " Safety Science and Engineering "; one Master of Engineering programs for "Safety Engineering"; 2 undergraduate programs for Safety Engineering and Fire Engineering. "Safety Engineering" is a national specialty construction point and professional brand of Jiangsu Province; The School passed "Safety Engineering" professional accreditation in 2014. Moreover, the School possesses 7 ministerial and provincial level scientific research and talent training bases, i.e. Key Laboratory of Chemical Process Safety for State Administration of Work Safety, CPCIF Key Laboratory of Chemical Process Safety Control, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Hazardous Chemicals Safety and Control, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Urban and Industrial Safety, Testing Center of Dangerous Chemicals of Ministry of Railways, Center for Safety Evaluation of Nanjing Tech University (State B), Center for Safety Engineering Education of Nanjing Tech University (second-class in the state), etc.
The School possesses a vibrant and overall outstanding faculty with excellent quality, reasonable age and knowledge structure and high academic level. There are 42 teaching and administrative staffs, including 4 PhD supervisor, 14 master supervisors, 5 professors, and 12 associate professors (or senior engineers). 97% of the full-time teachers have at least a master's degree. Among the faculty members, there is 1 teacher well-known as a member of "Young Backbone Teacher Plan" of the Ministry of Education, 1 teacher well-known as "New Century Excellent Talents" of Ministry of Education, 1 teacher known as a member of the First group of Young and Middle-Aged Leader in Science and Technology Talent of Jiangsu "333 High-Level Personnel Training Project", and 1 teacher known as one of the Century Academic Leaders of Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu Province. Three teachers won the title of "the Six Talents Peak" in Jiangsu Province, and 3 the title of "Blue Project" Young and Middle-Aged Academic Leaders of Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu Province. 4 teachers won the title of Key Teachers, 20 became National Certified Safety Engineers and National Certified Safety Evaluators. In recent years, a large number of national, ministerial and provincial level key research projects have been undertaken, such as Key and General Programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China, "Tenth Five-Year Plan" National Scientific and Technological Projects, "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" National Technology Support Plan of China, and so on. Furthermore, 3 national science and technology awards, 16 ministerial and provincial level science and technology awards, 8 authorized patents have been granted, and 700 papers have been issued in the domestic and foreign journals, including more than 200 papers searched by SCI.EI and ISTP. Some research findings have reached the leading domestic levels or advanced international levels.
