A delegation headed by Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of University of Johannesburg visited NanjingTech and met with his counterpart, NanjingTech President Prof. Qiao Xu and Vice-president Prof. Gong Jianming for discussions on further strengthening collaboration between two universities.
Prof. Qiao Xu first expressed his gratitude to Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala and his team for support to the Confucius Institute at University of Johannesburg. He said that since the official launch of UJ CI, the exchange and cooperation between two universities has been frequent and fruitful and has led to achievements in faculty exchange, research collaborations and cultural integration. The innovative and characteristic development of UJ CI will contribute to the "Road and Belt Initiative" and the economic development of both countries.
Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala introduced the achievement that UJ CI has made and its future plan. He has confidence that with the joint efforts of both universities, the UJ CI will integrate the high-tech development background of the University of Johannesburg and realize the modernization and networking of Chinese teaching.
Finally Prof. Qiao Xu and Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala signed the agreement of joint post-graduate programs between two universities.
After the meeting, Tshilidzi Marwala delivered his NanjingTech Global Vision Lecture with the themeThe Fourth Industrial Revolution and Societyin School of Electrical Engineering and Control Sciences.
