On Nov. 20, the First Forum for Chinese Universities Teaching, sponsored by National Higher Education Teaching Research Centre, National Higher Education Teaching Research Committee, Chinese Universities Teaching magazine and the Education Department of Jiangsu Province, undertaken by NJUT, was held inYangzi Hall of Nanjing Zhongshan Hotel.

The two-day teaching forum included nearly 600 representatives from more than 200 universities. There are 38 seminars given by experts and scholars, such as Prof. Zhou Yuanqing, the president of Chinese Higher Education Society, Prof. Yuan Si, vice president of Qing Hua University, Prof. Yang Shuzi of Hua Zhong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Wu Qiyun of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, etc. The seminars extensively covered the issues with great enlightenment and practicability ranging from the improvement of teaching modes and quality, education reform and tendency of both foreign and domestic teaching methods to the construction of new personnel training system and the teaching reform and problems encountered in higher engineering education.
