NanjingTech University held a grand ceremony to confer the honorary professorship on Prof. Donal Bradley, Fellow of the Royal Society and Pro-Rector (Research) of Imperial College London in the lecture hall on the fifth floor of the Science and Innovation Building on the afternoon of July 7. The ceremony was attended by president and academician Huang Wei, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission Prof. Cui Yihu, directors and deans of relevant departments and colleges and teacher and student representatives.

In the welcoming speech, president and academician Huang Wei expressed his warm welcome to Prof. Donal Bradley by calling him “the brother in the same trench”. He introduced the historical development of NanjingTech in brief and stressed in particular that "Jiangsu Advanced Biological and Chemical Manufacturing Collaborative Innovation Center" led by NanjingTech was officially announced as one of the 14 first batch of the "2011 Plan" National Collaborative Innovation Centers.

As pointed out by President Huang, becoming a member of the “2011 Plan” universities lays a solid foundation for the strategic goal of building NanjingTech into a “comprehensive, research-oriented, and globalized” university. In the future, NanjingTech will become a household name, a name that is as impressive as CalTech, the abbreviation of the top-ranking California Institute of Technology. This is the dream for excellence and development that NajingTech strives for. To realize this dream, the strategy of globalization is of extreme significance. The strategy of globalization to NanjingTech is what the opening-up policy is to the reform and development of China.

Under the guidance of this strategy, NanjingTech will seek high-level communication with such top-ranking universities as Imperial College London and in-depth cooperation with world-renowned academic expert like Prof. Donal Bradley.

The appointment of Prof. Donal Bradley as NanjingTech honorary professor not only opens up new realm for the development of molecular electronic materials in NanjingTech but also serves as an important bridge to deepen the collaboration between NanjingTech and Imperial College London. President Huang anticipates that the cooperation between NanjingTech and Imperial College London will become the exemplary model in the globalization strategy of NanjingTech.

After the conferring ceremony, Prof. Donal Bradley delivers a lecture entitled “Molecular Control for Plastic Electronics and Photonics” as the first Global Vision Lecture and academician and president Huang Wei awards Certificate of Annual Distinguished Lecture to him afterwards.
