Visiting Professorship Conferring Ceremony on Prof. Derek Woollins, Vice Principal (Research) and Prof. Ifor Samuel, School of Physics & Astronomy of University of St Andrews was held in the auditorium of Science & Innovation Building, Dingjiaqiao Campus in the afternoon of November 14th. The ceremony was hosted by Vice President, Prof. Jiang Juncheng and attended by Vice president, Prof. Cui Yihu and Directors or Deans of Office of International Relations and Institute of Advanced Materials.
Vice President, Prof. Jiang Juncheng pointed out in his speech that the visit of St Andrews delegation would be a very good opportunity for further communication between two universities. Both sides had in-depth discussion on teacher and student exchange, joint educational programs and collaborative research and would make tangible progress in establishment of joint research center. Prof. Derek Woollins and Prof. Ifor Samuel expressed their gratitude for warm reception and their support for the cooperation between two universities in their speeches.
After the ceremony, Prof. Derek Woollins and Prof. Ifor Samuel delivered academic lectures entitled Inorganic Heterocycles: Synthesis and Applications and Organic Semiconductor Optoelectronics respectively. Before the ceremony, they were showed around NanjingTech Science Park and Key Laboratories and they both spoke highly of NanjingTech's research strength and integration with industries.
