Academician and President Huang Wei conferred "Distinguished Chinese Visiting Scholar" by HKPU

Academician and President Huang Wei was conferred the honorary title of "Distinguished Chinese Visiting Scholars" by Hong Kong Polytechnic University on December 25th.

The Distinguished Chinese Visiting Scholars Scheme was launched in 1994 by Hong Kong Polytechnic University to confer the honorary titles to 4 to 6 distinguished Chinese Mainland scientists each year with the aim of promoting knowledge exchanges culturally and academically between researchers of Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong. President Huang Wei delivered a much-applauded lecture entitled "Recent Advances in Organic optoelectronics" and shared his experience of academic research and personal growth with the researchers and students of Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

During his visit, President Huang also held talks with Prof. Timothy W. Tong, President of HKPU to discuss the collaborations between two universities. President Huang introduced NanjingTech's historical development, key disciplines and globalization strategy. He pointed out that as one of the first batch of the 14 "2011 Plan" universities, NanjingTech would adhere to its strategic goal of building a "Comprehensive, Research-Oriented and Globalized University" and endeavor to become a famous university both nationally and internationally through persistent efforts. He anticipated further collaborations with Hong Kong Polytechnic University to promote the development of higher education of both mainland and Hong Kong. Both universities believed that the inter-university cooperation conducted on a pragmatic basis of mutual trust would achieve fruitful results.
