Academician and President Huang Wei was invited to attend the meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and representatives of some Chinese universities and research institutions on December 23rdin Beijing.
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said China's Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping share the same vision with Egypt's major development plans and he is willing to work on a new push to forward the cooperation in education, science and technology between two countries. The development of Chinese education and science is highly admirable and there is great scope and enormous potential for the cooperation between two nations. He anticipates more tangible cooperative projects to help Egypt achieve its developmental goals by bringing in Chinese science and technology and educational resources.
In his conversation with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Academician and President Huang Wei said China's Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiatives are the strategic decisions made by President Xi Jinping and the Chinese Government which are highly important to promote the common development of countries en route. The cooperation, especially the cooperation in higher education between two countries is of great strategic significance and practical value. Nanjing Tech University is striding on its way of building a "Comprehensive, Research-Oriented and Globalized" university and endeavors to become a world-famous university through persistent efforts. Egypt is an important country with significant influence in Middle East and has long-term friendship with China. Nanjing Tech University will promote the all-round, in-depth and tangible cooperation with Egyptian universities by such means as co-establishing Confucius Institute. He hopes to strengthen the mutual understanding and practical cooperation with Egyptian universities to promote the cooperation, especially in higher education between two countries.
