The First International Symposium on Flexible Electronics and NanjingTech-Imperial College Bilateral Workshop was held in Nanjing on March 16th.
The Opening Ceremony was attended by Academician and President Huang Wei, Mr. Chen Bo, Member of Qixia District Standing Commission and Head of Qixia District Organization Department, Prof. Hu Yonghong, Vice Chief of Qixia District, Mr. Shen Yinlong, Deputy Director of Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Commission, Prof. He Xuejun, Assistant President of Nanjing Tech University, Imperial College Delegation headed by Prof. Paul N Stavrinou and NanjingTech researchers and students.
The Opening Ceremony was hosted by Prof. Huo Fengwei and Prof. Huang Ling, vice-dean of Institute of Advanced Materials made a welcoming speech on behalf of Academician and Presidents Huang Wei. Prof. Huang Ling introduced the development of the team of IAM particularly its efforts in attracting top overseas talents and promoting worldwide collaborations. He said Flexible Electronics, as a frontier field of research has been developing very rapidly with bright future of application. NanjingTech has co-established the Joint Research Center of Plastic Electronics with Imperial College London and both sides will endeavor to further promote its research and application.
Prof. Paul N Stavrinou, head of Imperial Delegation expressed his gratitude for NanjingTech's reception and organization on behalf of Prof. Donal Bradley, Vice-Provost (Research) of Imperial College London. He recalled the long history of cooperation between both sides and was deeply impressed by NanjingTech research strength when he was in Nanjing last year for the iSOME2014. He would help to promote the exchange and collaboration between two universities.
Mr. Chen Bo, Member of Qixia District Standing Commission and Head of Qixia District Organization Department also made a speech which spoke highly of the contributions President Huang Wei and his team have made to the development of plastic electronics. He introduced the latest development of Qixia's emerging industries and said he would support NanjingTech's collaboration with famous overseas universities and research institutions like Imperial College.
The First International Symposium on Flexible Electronics and NanjingTech-Imperial College Bilateral Workshop focuses on academic exchange among researchers in such topics as high-performance organic semiconductor materials and devices, study of constructing high performance of perovskite solar cell and Functional two-dimensional nano material Application. The symposium has received over 100 papers and 32 researchers will deliver reports on 16thand 17th. Researchers from both universities will have group discussions from 18thto 20th.
