Academician and President Huang Wei met with the delegation from Ufa State Aviation Technical University (USATU) headed by Prof. R.A. Khisamutdinov, Acting Vice-Rector for Scientific Investigations and Innovations. As pointed out by President Huang, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Russia proved to be stable and enduring in this changing world. Both as the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the partnership between China and Russia is in line with the development of the world and is beneficial to the peoples of both countries. There were twists and turns in the development of Russia but after two-decade efforts, Russia is regaining its influence in economy, culture and education. The education of Russia, in particular, is still playing a leading role in the world. Nanjing Tech University has established the strategic goal of building a "comprehensive, research-oriented and globalized" university and has recruited Prof. Zhou Lian, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and leading expert in metal materials. The cooperation between two universities would promote the development of both universities and make contribution to the application of new metal materials in aviation, aerospace and navigation.
Prof. R.A. Khisamutdinov expressed his gratitude for NanjingTech warm reception and he invited President Huang to visit Ufa State Aviation Technical University this July when The Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICs Summit will convene. He expected to further promote the collaboration between two universities with the efforts from both sides.
Before President Huang's meeting with Prof. R.A. Khisamutdinov, Vice President Prof. Jiang Juncheng held a bilateral discussion with the USATU delegation. Prof. Jiang Juncheng said Ufa State Aviation Technical University is a world famous university in metal materials and aero engines. The NanjingTech Institute of Advanced Metal Materials led by Academician Zhou Lian is also famous for its pioneering research in low-cost and short-flow titanium alloy manufacturing. There is great potential for the collaboration between two universities. Both universities should take this opportunity to understand each other and promote staff exchange and research collaboration between two universities. Both sides had in-depth discussion on many issues and reached much consensus and the practical cooperation between two universities is expected to start in the near future.
Brief Introduction of USATU and its Delegates:
USATU can be historically traced back to the 19th century. The forefather of the university was Warsaw Polytechnic Institute founded in 1897 and closed up during the First Russian Revolution. USATU is ranking as one of the top Technical Universities in Russia and is a leading university in the field of aviation and space and rocket technology.
Prof. R.Z. Valiev is the Head of USATU Department of Nanotechnology, Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and a Russian scientist with over 23,000 citations and an H impact factor of over 70.
Prof. I.V.Alexandrov is the USATU Head of USATU Department of Physics and scientist-in-chief in nanotechnology who published over 200 papers with over 3655 citations.
