Prof. Mark E. Thompson from Department of Chemistry, University of Southern California visited Nanjing Tech University at the invitation of Academician and President Huang Wei for his lecture entitled "The Design of Organic Solar Cells with High Voltage and Efficiency" and was conferred NanjingTech Visiting Professorship on May 12th. The ceremony was also attended by Vice President, Professor Jiang Juncheng and chaired by Vice President, Prof. Gong Jianming.
Prof. Mark E. Thompson said on the conferring ceremony that he felt honored to be conferred a visiting professorship and extended his gratitude to President Huang wei and pointed out that Nanjing Tech University is developing from a regional university into a global university and he is amazed at the breakthrough achievement NanjingTech has made in such frontier research as organic optoelectronic materials.
Vice President, Prof. Jiang Juncheng, said that as a top material expert, Prof. Mark E. Thompson is renowned for his research in Organic Optoelectronic Materials, organic solar cell and nano biosensors. His joining in NanjingTech would play an important role in speeding up NanjingTech development. He also introduced the history and latest development of our university.
President Huang Wei recalled his experience of exchange and collaboration with Prof. Mark E. Thompson since they first met more than ten years ago. They both witnessed the development of organic optoelectronics in China that originated in Shanghai and flourished in Nanjing. The paper about the research achievement of phosphorescent materials and OLED devices published in Nature in 1998 by Prof. Mark E. Thompson was revolutionary in organic optoelectronics and marked the important inception of application and commercialization of OLED technology. President Huang believed that Prof. Mark E. Thompson's joining us would play a very important role in the development of NanjingTech.
After the conferring ceremony, Prof. Mark E. Thompson delivered his lecture entitled "The Design of Organic Solar Cells with High Voltage and Efficiency" which was warmly received by NanjingTech teachers and students and aroused heated exchange and discussion.
