Prof. Harald Fuchs, world-renowned scientist in Nano-technology, Member of both the German Academy of Science and Engineering and the Deutsche Akademie fur Naturforscher Leopoldina and C4 Professor of the University of Munster visited NanjingTech for his public lecture entitled "Nanotechnology: Pacemaker for New Markets" and was conferred upon NanjingTech Honorary Professorship on June 8th.
Prof. Harald Fuchs said in his speech that he is honored to be conferred upon this honorary title and he is amazed at the substantial progress of NanjingTech in Nano-science and materials in such a short period of time. He said that the application of Nano technology is facing many challenges in health, energy and environment which call for global collaboration and integration with industries. He said that young people are the future of the world and he encourages NanjingTech young students to work harder to become entrepreneurs, presidents or even Nobel Laureates in the future. He said he would endeavor to establish platforms for academic and cultural exchange between NanjingTech and the University of Munster and make contribution to the collaboration between two universities.

He said that Prof. Harald Fuchs' achievement in Nano Technology is widely recognized throughout the world. Prof. Harald Fuchs co-chairedSmall, a world top journal in Nano technology with Prof. Chad Mirkin who is also a NanjingTech Honorary Professor. Prof. Harald Fuchs delivered a 40-minute report which was warmly received by experts at the iSOME 2015 held last week. President Huang said we should aim high and keep our feet planted on the ground in our pursuit of scientific research. Germany is a country with great strength in science, technology and industry and Prof. Harald Fuchs would play a critical role in promoting the all-round collaboration between two universities in scientific research, education and talent cultivation.
After the conferring ceremony, Prof. Harald Fuchs delivered his lecture entitled "Nanotechnology: Pacemaker for New Markets" which was warmly received by NanjingTech teachers and students and sparked heated discussion and interaction.
