Academician and President Huang Wei was conferred upon Honorary Doctorate by Russian Academy of Sciences and received his certificate from Prof. Sergey M. Aldoshin, Full Member of Russian Academy of Sciences and Vice-President of RAS on May 26th. President Huang Wei was invited to visit Russia for lecture tour to a number of Russian universities and research institutions. This is another significant honor from the international research community after the President Huang was awarded Honorary Doctorate by the University of Sheffield in July, 2015. It is deemed as a recognition not only of President Huang’s research achievements but also of his contribution to Chinese Science and Technology under the innovation-driven strategy of development. In the conferring ceremony, Prof. Sergey M. Aldoshin introduced President Huang's curriculum vitae by stressing the fruitful collaboration with such world-renowned scientists as Noble Laureate, Prof. Alan J. Heeger, Prof. Donal D. C. Bradley, Fellow of Royal Society of Sciences and Prof. Harald Fuchs of University of Munster and his great contribution to advancing the frontier research such as advanced materials, organic photo-electronics, flexible electronics and advanced energy.
Sergey M. Aldoshin spoke highly of President Huang's strategic vision and his practical measures in global education and scientific collaboration. The establishment of NanjingTech-RAS-MSU Joint Research and Innovation Center was a good illustration of his efforts to promote the research collaboration between China and Russia under the background of increasing global cooperation in scientific research.
President Huang expressed his sincere gratitude for being awarded the honorary title and his best wished for the future collaboration between two universities. He said that Russian Academy of Sciences is the highest academic institution in the Russian Federation with supreme position and influence. To be awarded the honorary title is not only an honor for him and his research team but also a pride of NanjingTech and, to a larger sense, China. He believed that the in-depth research collaboration would further expedite the cooperation between Chinses and Russian institutions and would greatly promote the development of NanjingTech in scientific research, talent cultivation and discipline construction.
