A delegation fromWonkwang Universityheaded by President Kim Do Jong visited Nanjing Tech University and met with Prof. Jiang Juncheng, Vice-President on June 13th. After extensive discussions on research collaboration, student exchange and language training, both universities signed inter-institutional MoU and student exchange agreement and launched the Korean Classroom in NanjingTech.
Prof. Jiang Juncheng first extended his warm welcome toPresident Kim Do Jong’s visit and introduced the fast development of NanjingTech since the university was elected as one of the first cohort of the 14 "2011 plan" universities. He mentioned, in particular, that NanjingTech has established joint research centers with world-famous universities like Imperial College London, Moscow State University; co-launched the Nature Partner Journal, Flexible Electronics with Nature Publishing Group; and co-established Confucius Institute with the University of Johannesburg. He believed that the two universities would expedite practical cooperation on the basis of the inter-institutional agreements.
President Kim Do Jong, in his speech, introduced the strengths and characteristics ofWonkwang University and said that in the "University Structural Reform Scheme" carried out by the Korean Ministry of Education, Wonkwang University ranked among the top 34 universities that scored A. Wonkwang University also attached great importance to fostering students’ innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and listed "Entrepreneurial Courses" as one of the compulsory courses. Wonkwang University carried out the "One Faculty Establishing One Enterprise" Scheme and encouraged faculties to integrate with industries so that students could study while doing internship at these enterprises. The Korean Classroom in NanjingTech would help to promote NanjingTech students’ understanding of Korean culture and language.President Kim Do Jong believed that there was considerable potential of cooperation between two universities.
Before the meeting and discussions, the Korean delegates visited the Apartments for Foreign teachers and students, the Maker Dream Works, Exhibition of Graduation Designs of School of Arts and the beautiful Jiangpu Campus.
