Madame Xu Lin, Counselor of the State Council of China and member of the CPPCC, was invited to a two-day visit to the city of Zaragoza and the Confucius Institute at the University of Zaragoza (ZUCI).

On April 6, Madame Xu met the Mayor of Zaragoza in the city hall, accompanied by the President of the University of Zaragoza and Chinese co-director of ZUCI. The Mayor said that Zaragoza highly values its ties with China and attaches great importance to Confucius Institutes as platforms for Sino-Spain cooperation in culture, education, science and technology. Madame Xu gave high praise to NanjingTech and Zaragoza University for the success establishment of ZUCI and hoped it can play a positive role in the region. The official launch of UJCI is projected in early June.

The next day, Madame Xu inspected the infrastructures of ZUCI before joining the general meeting of directors of Confucius Institutes in Spain.

After the meeting, Madame Xu was awarded University of Zaragoza’s 475th Anniversary Medal of Honor for her effort in the construction of ZUCI and the communication between China and Spain. It was the first time for a Chinese to have received this medal.
