Overview
The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences currently has undergraduate majors in Applied Physics, Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Information and Computing Science (Embedded Training), and Engineering Mechanics. It runs adoctoral degree program for Property & Device of Magneto-optic Material and four master degree programs for Property & Device of Magneto-optic Material, Engineering Mechanics, Applied Statistics and Materials and Chemical Engineering. The school is composed of several teaching and academic units, including Department of Physics, Department of Mathematics, Department of Mechanics, Jiangsu Provincial Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching of Physics Basic Courses, Mathematics Experimental Teaching Center, Mechanics Experimental Teaching Center, and Signal Processing & Data Mining Research Institute. The school has 141 faculty members, including 121 full-time teachers with 10 senior titles and 58 associate senior titles. Among the full-time teachers, 69 have doctoral degrees and 40 have overseas backgrounds. The school mainly undertakes the teaching tasks of basic courses in mathematics, physics and mechanics for other schools, as well as the talent training of doctoral, master and undergraduate students of the school.
