From December 19th to 21st, metal material engineering and environmental engineering of our university ushered in the professional certification joint examination expert group to enter the campus for on-site inspection. Professor Yue Qinghua of East China University of Science and Technology, Professor Xie Junlin of Wuhan University of Technology, Professor Cheng Jigui of Hefei University of Technology, Professor Gong Bin of China Baowu Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., Professor Zhou Qi of Tongji University, Professor Zhang Guangsheng of Jiangnan University, Professor Xue Fei of Qingqi Yihe Carbon Sink (Wuhan) Technology Co., Ltd. and other 9 experts entered the university to carry out on-site inspection in the form of "online + offline", and international observers of the Washington Accord observed the inspection work online and synchronously.

In 2016, China became a full member of the Washington Agreement, an international agreement on mutual recognition of engineering education degrees, and this year ushered in the first periodic inspection of the professional accreditation of engineering education in China by the Washington Agreement. As one of only two universities in the country to be tested, our university is also observed by international observers of the Washington Accord.

On the morning of December 19, the on-site inspection meeting was held, attended by all examination experts and Rui Hongyan, secretary of the party committee of the school, Lu Weidong, member of the standing committee of the party committee and vice president, relevant functional departments, school leaders and professional backbone teachers. At the meeting, Secretary Rui Hongyan first expressed his heartfelt thanks to the three international experts for their "cloud" guidance on behalf of the school, and warmly welcomed all the experts who came from afar overcoming the impact of the epidemic. Since the launch of professional certification and professional evaluation in 2001, 18 majors of our school have passed the professional certification of engineering education, and 6 majors have passed the professional evaluation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, effectively ensuring the quality of talent training. The expert group listened to Vice President Lu Weidong's introduction to the university's overview, professional construction and assessment and certification, as well as supplementary reports from the two majors, and conducted on-site questions on relevant issues. Next, a two-and-a-half-day on-site inspection was conducted.

At the on-site inspection feedback meeting on the morning of December 21, Professor Yue Qinghua, the co-leader of the team, and two members of the professional expert group gave specific feedback. The expert group affirmed the advantages and levels of the university and majors, pointed out the problems in the teaching of the two majors, and put forward opinions and suggestions on professional construction. Vice President Luk Weidong and relevant leaders of the college responded positively to the valuable suggestions put forward by the experts.

Professional certification of engineering education is a favorable opportunity to promote the development of professional connotation and high quality, and it is also an effective way to drive the rapid improvement of the quality of talent training in the university. The university actively promotes the participation of engineering majors in the evaluation and certification, providing an internationally recognized and substantially equivalent "pass" for our students to go abroad and go to the world. It is also the strict professional evaluation and certification that accelerates the accumulation and innovation of professional construction in our university, promotes the improvement of the quality of talent training in the university, and promotes the high-quality development of professional connotation.
