"On May 15th, the second 'Science and Technology Innovation Month' series event, the 2022 High-end Forum on the Future Development of Chemical Engineering, was held in the fifth-floor lecture hall of Hongyi Building. The President, Qiao Xu, and Vice President, Xing Weihong, attended the event. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ju Yonggan, the Party Secretary of the School of Chemical Engineering.
During the opening ceremony, President Qiao Xu delivered a welcome speech. He warmly welcomed the participating experts and scholars, providing a detailed introduction to the university's development history and current status through four aspects: strong discipline, rich spirit, beautiful scenery, and high-level talent cultivation. President Qiao expressed his hope that this forum would be an opportunity for extensive and in-depth exchanges with experts and scholars, refining the future development direction of the chemical engineering discipline and providing valuable suggestions for the university's creation of first-class disciplines. Gu Xuehong, the Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering, introduced the basic situation of the university's chemical engineering discipline from five aspects: the school's history, faculty, research platforms, interdisciplinary studies, and industry-university-research integration.
The forum invited nine experts, including Sun Lili, the Party Secretary of Sinopec Engineering Construction Limited and an academician, Gu Ning, Chief Professor at Southeast University and an academician, and Li Shousheng, the President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. They delivered excellent academic reports on cutting-edge topics such as 'Carbon Neutrality, Intelligent Chemical Engineering, Micro-Chemical Engineering, and Healthy New Materials.' The experts provided a multi-perspective analysis of the current situation and future trends in the chemical engineering industry, bringing a rich academic feast to the faculty and students.
During his address at the conference, Vice President Xing Weihong emphasized the importance of cherishing this learning opportunity. He encouraged faculty and students to understand the strategic demands and cutting-edge achievements in chemical engineering, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, promote academic innovation, and continually strive for excellence.
This forum effectively promoted the interdisciplinary and integrated development of chemical engineering under new circumstances, providing a platform for industry-university-research exchange. It explored the development direction of the chemical engineering discipline, aligning it with the needs of the country's development. The event aimed to resonate with and contribute comprehensively to social development and national economic construction.
