On May 27th, the "2022 Carbon Neutrality International Forum," jointly organized by our university's State Key Laboratory of Materials Chemistry and Engineering, the Collaborative Innovation Institute of Carbon Neutrality, and the Cambridge University Nanjing Science and Technology Innovation Center, was held both online and offline in the third-floor conference room of Hongyi Building. President Qiao Xu, Vice President Xing Weihong, and Academic Director Chu Daping of the Cambridge University Nanjing Science and Technology Innovation Center attended the meeting. The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Vice President Xing Weihong.
President Qiao Xu delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the university, introducing the university's efforts in supporting the achievement of the "Dual Carbon" goals through the pursuit of the "sky-touching and ground-standing" research philosophy. He highlighted the ongoing work on key core technologies related to low-carbon, zero-carbon, and negative-carbon, expressing the hope that the forum would serve as an opportunity for experts and scholars to explore new ideas for academic research and international cooperation in the "Dual Carbon" field, contributing wisdom and strength to ecological civilization and the construction of a beautiful China. Director Chu Daping expressed the wish that the forum would further promote cooperation and dissemination between Cambridge, the UK, and China in the field of low-carbon, and he wished the forum a complete success.
Eleven renowned experts from top universities and institutions, including Professor Wei Wei from the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Wei Zidong from Chongqing University, Professor Zeng Jie from the University of Science and Technology of China, Professor Zhang Jiutian from Beijing Normal University, Professor Wang Baolong from Tsinghua University, Researcher Zhang Xiangping from the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Qin Xiaobo from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Luo Jingshan from Nankai University, and Dr. Erik Mackie, Dr. Gao Yunhu, and Dr. Meng Fanran from the University of Cambridge, delivered exciting academic reports on macro strategies, technological routes, and industry demands for achieving the "Dual Carbon" goals.
Through interdisciplinary and cross-domain exchanges, this forum provided a platform for in-depth cooperation, contributing to our university's efforts to achieve the "Dual Carbon" goals. It clarified the economic and social development needs and the layout of technological routes under the "Dual Carbon" goals, further promoting the construction of a technological innovation system to support carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
Leaders of relevant units, including the State Key Laboratory of Materials Chemistry and Engineering, the Research Institute, and the School of Chemical Engineering, as well as more than two hundred faculty members and students, participated in the conference both online and offline.
