Prof. Ward started his academic career at the University of Cambridge where he obtained a BA in Chemistry in 1986 and PhD in Chemistry in 1989. From 1989 to 1990 he did postdoctoral research at the Université Louis Pasteur de Strasbourg. Form 1990 to 2003 he was appointed Lecturer/Reader/Professor at the University of Bristol, then Professor of inorganic chemistry at the University of Sheffield (2003-2007). He was the Head of Department of Chemistry of the University of Sheffield during 2007 to 2011. Now he is the Chair of RSC Advances. His research interests involve in Coordination Chemistry; Ligand Design; Supramolecular Chemistry; Transition Metals; Lanthanides; Optical and Electrochemical Properties of Metal Complexes; Photophysical Properties of Metal Complexes; Up to now, Prof. Ward has published more than 370 peer-reviewed papers includingJACS, Chem. Commun., Chem-Eur J., Inorg. Chem., Dalton Transactions,etc。
