Academician and President Huang Wei, on the invitation of Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, paid a visit to nine world-renowned universities including Cambridge, Oxford, University College of London and Imperial College etc, in UK for his lecture tour in February, 2014.
In University College of London (UCL), a top-ten university in the world, Academician and President Huang Wei delivered his premiere lecture of his UK tour entitledRecent Advances in Organic Optoelectronicswhich elaborated on the latest progress and achievements of his research team and was highly applauded by his peer experts.
Academician and President Huang also visited the Chemistry Department of UCL, the Plastic Electronics Research Center of Imperial College, the Tissue Engineering and Biological Technology Research Center and Education Department of Oxford, the Cavendish Laboratory of Cambridge, the Department of Chemical Physics of Sheffield University and had in-depth academic exchanges with their directors in charge.
To promote NanjingTech's image and its development strategy of building a "Comprehensive, Research-oriented and Globalized" university, Academician and President Huang held cordial talks with Prof. Donal Bradley, Pro-Rector of Imperial College, Prof. Zheng Xiao Guo, Pro-Provost of UCL, Prof. Louise Richardson, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of St Andrews and Prof. Hubert Ertl of Oxford University, etc. He introduced NanjingTech's century-long history and pointed out that NanjingTech would continue its pursuit of excellence in teaching and research under the favorable circumstances of "2011 Plan". They also had insightful and fruitful discussions on university management, scientific collaborations, talent recruitment and the establishment of Confucius Institute.
Academician and President Huang said the in-depth communications with UK's top-notch universities would strengthen the ground for further cooperation and enhance the scientific research and talent cultivation of NanjingTech. Six of the nine universities he visited were members of the Russell Group, an association of 24 British top research universities that boast first-class faculty, highest-level scientific research and outstanding graduates. The close cooperation with them would facilitate NanjingTech's recruitment of talents from UK.
