Abstract:
Exploring solar energy in the infrared range over 800nm is one of possible way to substantially increasing the photo to electrical conversion efficiancy over the 32% theoretic limit. Intermediate bands introduced by N type and/or P type dopants may pave the way to utilizing the low energy solar photons. Experimental results are reported to demostrate trace-amount W-doping might significantlly changed the band structure of TiO2 nanoparticals and enhansed the performance of DSCs and PSCs as well.
Biography:
Dr. ZHAO, Xing-Zhongis a Cheung Kong Professor of Physics at Wuhan University in China. He received his B. S. and M. S. degrees at Department of Physics of Wuhan University in 1982 and 1985 respectively, and his Ph. D. at Department of Material Physics at University of Science Technology Beijing in 1989. From March, 1990 to March, 1995, he worked as assistant and associate professor at Department of Materials Science and Engineering of Huazhong (Central China) University of Science and Technology. From April, 1995 to August, 1998 Dr. Zhao worked as an adjunct associate professor and post doctorate research fellow at Materials Research Laboratory of the Pennsylvania State University with professors Rustum Roy (NAE), Eric L. Cross (NAE) and Q. M. Zhang on hydrothermal synthesis of diamond, piezoelectric ceramics/polymer composite, and ferroelectric P(VDF-TrFE) copolymer. In 2006 He visited MIT as a senior visiting scientist for half year. His research interests now encompass the solid state electrolyte dye sensitized solar cell, perovskite solar cells and microfluidics based enriching and isolation of circulating tumor cells and fetal nucleated red blood cells for clinic biomedical analysis and diagnosis and related applications. He has pulished over 300 peer-reviewed papers on Nature, Science, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano etc. His H-index is 36, other-citing is over 5000.
