Research Seminar of Dr. LIU Ye fromInstitute of Materials Research and Engineering, A*STAR, Singapore
Lecture Time: 14:00 on 15th May, 2017 Lecture Room: C501 of Science and Innovation Building Lecture Title:Polymeric Biomaterials
Ye Liu Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research), Singapore Abstract Polymers play important roles in various biorelated applications espceically for gene/drug delivery, bioimiaging and fighting pathogens. However it is still a formidable challenge to develop safe and efficient polymers for these applications. In our group, we have developed three unquie synthetic plateforms to novel polymeric biomaterials, i.e., Michael addition polymerization of trifunctional amines and acrylic monomers, oligo-polyethylenimine (PEI) grafting, and functionalization of hollow silica spheres with polymers. In this talk, the progresses in synthesis and bio-related applications of these novel polymer biomaterials including for gene/drug delivery, bioimaging and killing pathogens will be updated. Biography: Dr. Liu Ye is Senior Scientist in Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*Star of Singapore. He got his bachelor degree in Chemistry from Anhui Normal University in 1986, Master degree in Macromolecular Chemistry & Physics from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry in 1991, and Ph. D from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1998, respectively. After working in USTC for one and half year, he joined in IMRE in 1999. His research interest is developing functional polymers for health care and consumer care. He has published more than 100 papers in Angew. Chem, JACS, Macromolecules, Bioconjugate Chem., Biomacromolecules etc, and filed 19 patents. |
