Abstract
A highly competitive research environment with increasingly limited research funding has created the imperative to publish in high impact journals or “perish”. In this presentation, theAdvanced Materialsfamily of journals is introduced and a snapshot provided of current trends and challenges. Insight into the peer review and editorial decision-making process is given from the perspective of theAdvanced Materialseditorial office. Tips are presented on the aspects of manuscript preparation and presentation to focus on from the editor’s and reviewer’s perspective. Finally, actions you can take to maximize the visibility of your work post-publication are highlighted.
Biography
Esther completed her Ph.D. in supramolecular chemistry at Cambridge University (UK) in 1997. She then joined theAdvanced Materialseditorial team (Wiley-VCH, Germany) where she was appointed Editor-in-Chief in 2002. In 2007, Esther relocated to Sydney to take up the position of Senior Commissioning Editor for Wiley’s physical sciences book, journal and society publishing program in the Asia-Pacific region. She returned to theAdvancedfamily of journals in 2011, where she is currently Editor-in-Chief ofAdvanced Materials Technologiesas well as Consulting Editor forAdvanced Materialsand the premium open-access general science journalAdvanced Science.
