IAM Sparkling Lecture IX and X: Academician Chad Mirkin and Professor Milan Mrksich from Northwestern University Visited
Academician Chad Mirkin and Professor Milan Mrksich from Northwestern University, invited by President and Academician Huang Wei and Prof. Huang Ling, visited Nanjing Tech University and delivered an academic lecture for IAM Sparkling Lecture on November 28, 2016. The seminar was held by Prof. Huo Fengwei, Deputy Director of Institute of Advanced Materials, in C501, Science and Innovation Building with attendees from Research and Innovation Office and Buffer Base for Overseas Talents (Institute of Advanced Materials, Institute of Advanced Synthesis).
Academician Chad Mirkin introduced the frontier techniques including cantilever-free scanning probe techniques, specifically scanning probe block copolymer lithography (SPBCL), entitled "Unlocking the Materials Genome through Nanocombinatorix". Prof. Milan Mrksich delivered a lecture named as "Using SAMDI Mass Spectrometry to Measure Enzyme Activities in Cell Lysates". During the lectures, Academician Chad Mirkin and Professor Milan Mrksich reminded their frequent communication with China during the last ten years, especially the communication with Nanjing Tech University recent years. They also pointed out that the innovation forces of China have played a more and more important role in the world. They will keep enhancing the communication with NanjingTech. The lecture was interesting and profound and attracted the strong interests of attendees. After the wonderful lectures, Academician Chad Mirkin and Professor Milan Mrksich were awarded the IAM Sparkling Lecture Certificate.
As reported, Academician Chad Mirkin and Professor Milan Mrksich visited Nanjing Tech University in 2014 and attended the Conference iSOME-2014. Academician Chad Mirkin is the world known chemist and nano scientist, and made a significant contribution to the development of chemistry and nano science. In addition, he is an Associate Editor of Journal of the American Chemical Society. Milan Mrksich is the Henry Wade Rogers Professor at Northwestern University, with appointments in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, and Cell and Molecular Biology. He was once awarded the TR100 Innovator Award.
