Sino-Singapore Symposium on Bioelectronics, Biooptoelectronics and Biophotonics (S3B3-2016)

Sino-Singapore Symposium on Bioelectronics, Biooptoelectronics & Biophotonics (S3B3-2016)

Sino-Singapore Symposium on Bioelectronics, Biooptoelectronics & Biophotonics (S3B3-2016), sponsored by Jiangsu National Synergetic Innovation Center for Advanced Materials, Joint International Research Laboratory of Flexible Electronics, MOE,National Neuroscience Institute, Singaporeand Buffer Base for Overseas Talents, Nanjing Tech University, and organized by Institute of Advanced Materials (IAM), Nanjing Tech University and Institute of Advanced Materials (IAM), Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, was solemn held in Nanjing Tech University in December 9, 2016. Honorary professor of NanjingTech, FRS and Vice-president of University of Oxford Prof. Donal Bradley,Visiting professor of NanjingTech and Dean of NNI Prof. Lim Kah-Leong, Prof. Fan Qvli from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Prof. LI Lin from Nanjing Tech University and staff and students from Buffer Base for Overseas Talents (Institute of Advanced Materials) attended the Symposium.

In the short opening ceremony, Prof. Fan Qvli, entrusted by Academician and President Huang Wei, made a speech. He expressed that IAM team and universities in Singapore have deep roots of cooperation. IAM team and universities in Singapore have already held several bilateral forums since 2002 which witnessed the rapid growth of IAM team and attracted numerous young scholars from Singapore for IAM team. He also pointed out that biooptoelectronics, which is the crossing fields of biology, chemistry, materials, medical and other subjects, is the frontier fields of current science development and one of the developing focuses of IAM team. He hoped that IAM team and universities in Singapore would strengthen the academic communication, show the research achievements and lead the discipline developing direction.

During the Symposium, 17 young scholars from National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), Singapore, Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), A*STAR, Singapore, Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR, Singapore, Nankai University, Suchow University, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Nanjing Tech University gave the presentations around biooptoelectronics. Honorary professor of NanjingTech, FRS and Vice-president of University of Oxford Prof. Donal Bradley gave the guidance and inspiration to young scholars during the Symposium.

In the closing ceremony, Visiting professor of NanjingTech and Dean of NNI Prof. Lim Kah-Leong, representing Singapore delegation, made a speech. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Academician and President Huang Wei and Prof. Li Lin for their organization of the Symposium. In addition, He pointed out that NUS, NTU, NNI, GIS and IMRE are endsville institutes in related fields. Recent years, NanjingTech developed rapidly especially in the field of advanced materials. The cooperation between NanjingTech and Singapore is crossed and complementary. He wished the young scholars could take the opportunity to communicate with each other and explore new research fields.
