Abstract:
Topological materials have been attracting great attention in the past decade. The concept of topological material itself also gets evolved and expanded. Nowadays, a zoo of topological materials has been discovered, and many of them have found material realizations and are confirmed experimentally. This opens a totally new field, which has fundamentally changed our understanding of the electronic band structure. Furthermore, there are many associated interesting new physical effects. The emergence of chiral fermions is one of them. In this talk, I will discuss the fundamental concepts in this field, and introduce some of our recent theoretical works related to topological materials and chiral fermions. Hopefully, these results will be helpful for advancing our fundamental knowledge of new materials and for designing new functional devices.
