Cultivation Plan of Undergraduate International Economics and Trade Program for International Students

I. Cultivation Goals and Requirements

1.Cultivation Goals of the Major

Cultivate compound and highly qualified professionals who have systematically mastered the basic theory of international economics and trade, the basic knowledge and skills of international trade practice and international business management, are familiar with prevailing international trade rules and practices, are able to engage in international economics, trade and management by expertly applying foreign languages and information technology, and to deal with international economic and international trade business, management, research and planning, teaching and research in foreign-related economic and trade departments, large enterprises, multinational corporations, banks, government agencies and research institutes, have good ability of communication and coordination, the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, an international perspective, as well as knowledge and skills of international economics and trade, law, and economic management.

2.Competency Requirements for Graduation

(1) Have a wide range of knowledge and an in-depth understanding of politics, history, culture and natural sciences;

(2) Have a solid foundation in mathematics and proficiency in computer and information technology application skills;

(3) Expertly master a foreign language, and have reached a high level in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating. Be proficient in using foreign languages for cross-cultural communication, and using English for international trade and economic management;

(4) Expertly master the basic theory and knowledge of international economics and trade; be familiar with the prevailing rules and practices of international trade and China's foreign trade policies and regulations, and keep abreast of cutting-edge international economic and trade development theories;

(5) Master the practical operation skills and analysis methods of international economic and trade business; have the ability to engage in scientific research and practical work in international economics and trade;

(6) Master the basic theories and qualitative and quantitative methods of management and economics, and be able to work and research using social surveys, business statistics and accounting methods;

(7) Have acquired diversified professional skills through systematic study of finance, insurance, investment and other professional courses;

(8) Have strong competence in lifelong learning, writing, language expression, and communication; and have strong capabilities of thinking, judgment and decision-making;

(9) Have the ability to independently acquire knowledge, ask questions, analyze problems and synthesize knowledge from different disciplines to solve problems, and have the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship and strong creative ability;

(10) Be mentally sound and physically healthy, and have good moral character and professional ethics.

IV. Basic Requirements for Graduation and Requirements for Degree Awarding

Basic requirements for graduation:Those who complete all the contents specified in the cultivation plan of the major within the specified period of schooling, acquire the required credits of various courses and the minimum 137.5 credits required for graduation, and meet graduation requirements in morality, intelligence and physical fitness, will be allowed to graduate.

Requirements for degree awarding:Graduates of this major who meet the relevant provisions of theDetailed Rules for the Implementation of Awarding the Bachelor's Degree of Nanjing Tech University will be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree.
