Discipline Overview
Power engineering and engineering thermophysics is a first-level discipline, which is also a main discipline of our university initially set up in 1956, and the second-level discipline of chemical process machinery became one of the first three doctoral programs in chemical process machinery in 1984. The discipline has 7 provincial and ministerial research bases, including the doctor station for the first-level discipline of power engineering and engineering thermophysics, the postdoctoral mobile rersearch station for the first-level discipline of power engineering andd engineering thermophysics, National Center for Research and Promotion of Heat Pipe Technology, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Process Intensification and New Energy Equipment Technology, Jiangsu Laboratory of Energy-saving and Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Engineering of Process Industry, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing and Control Technology for Industrial Equipment, and Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Extreme Pressure Equipment Design and Manufacturing. The supported "Public Safety and Energy Saving"was awarded the funding for first-phase construction project of advantageous disciplines in Jiangsu Province (excellent), the "Advanced Energy Technology and Equipment" was awarded the funding for second-phase construction project of advantageous disciplines in Jiangsu Province (landmark achievements passed), the "Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics" was awarded the funding for third-phase construction project of advantageous disciplines in Jiangsu Province, and as the main supporting discipline for the engineering disciplines of our university, it has entered the top 3.6‰ of ESI.
Aiming at the international academic frontier and the objectives of national and regional economic development strategies, the discipline conducts research by focusing on the directions of engineering thermal physics, thermal engineering, power machinery and engineering, fluid machinery and engineering, refrigeration and low-temperature engineering, chemical process machinery, power engineering automation, new energy science and engineering, etc. Give full play to the advantages in application transformation and solving problems of major national needs, connect with social and market demands, adhere to the combination of industry, university, research and application, synergistic development, and multi-dimensional linkage, and take the road of advantage and characteristic development.
Cultivation Goals
Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the discipline comprehensively implements the CPC's education policy, takes establishing moral values and educating people as the fundamental, and the all-round moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic development as the main line, and cultivates high-level talents with firm political stance, noble ideological character, rigorous academic attitude and innovative spirit.
Master the solid and broad basic theories and systematic and in-depth expertise in the discipline of power engineering and engineering thermophysics, have discipline knowledge in related research of this discipline, and be able to skillfully apply the knowledge of this discipline to solve scientific problems. The holder of a master's degree should have basic academic quality and ethics, as well as the ability to engage in scientific research or take up specialized technical work independently, and good professionalism and cooperation spirit. Be competent in research, scientific and technological development , and teaching. Look at things from an international perspective and be proficient in a foreign language.
III. Cultivation Direction
(1) Engineering thermal physics (2) thermal engineering (3) power machinery and engineering (4) fluid machinery and engineering (5) refrigeration and low-temperature engineering (6) chemical process machinery (7) energy-saving materials and engineering
IV. Study Period and Credits
The study period for academic master students is generally 3 years, with a maximum of 5 years.
The minimum total credits required for academic master students is 28 credits, including 24 credits for courses (10 credits for public degree courses, 6 credits for professional degree courses, 4 credits for professional elective courses and 4 credits for public elective courses), 2 credits for attending academic lectures/reports (at least 15 times) and 2 credits for academic practice.
For master students enrolled at the university with equivalent academic attainments or from another discipline, they must make up the main courses (not less than 2) of the undergraduate program of their current discipline, and the make-up courses will only be recorded with grades, not credits, but should be included in their personal cultivation plan.
In principle, the study of graduate courses shall be completed within 1 year.
