In order to protect the legitimate rights and interests of international students from foreign countries (hereinafter referred to as “international students”), to improve the emergency handling response mechanism, and to optimize the environment for international students, the methods are formulated according to the gist of document of “Interim Provisions on Institutions of Higher Learning requiring Foreign Students to Purchase Insurance” by Ministry of Education and “The Provincial Education Department’s Notice on the Trial implementation of Comprehensive Welfare Insurance System for Foreign Students in Colleges and Universities across the Province” of Education Department of Jiangsu Province and in combination with the actual situation of our university.

Article 1All the international students who study for more than one semester (including one semester) must purchase comprehensive insurance chosen by the university.

Article 2International students whose study period is less than one semester may either purchase comprehensive insurance chosen by the University or other insurance, including overseas insurance or the insurance provided by personal insurance companies approved by China Insurance Regulatory Commission.Other insurance purchased must include personal accident injury medical treatment insurance. The international students who purchase other insurance shall provide the supporting information of the insurance purchased at the time of registration.

Article 3Our university implements a system of insurance for all international students. All international students must insure themselves in accordance with the relevant regulations of the state and the requirements of the university. For those who fail to purchase insurance in accordance with the relevant provisions, they should purchase insurance within a time limit. Those failing to do so within the time limit will not be admitted by our university; and those who have begun to study in our university shall drop out or not be enrolled by our university.

Article 4For the international students who have been awarded scholarships such as jasmine scholarship by Jiangsu Provincial Government, where medical insurance providing is stipulated in scholarship terms, our university shall purchase uniformly comprehensive insurance for international students; for international students with other types of scholarship and intercollegiate exchange students, where the content is not explicitly stipulated in terms of scholarship and agreement, the insurance charge shall be borne by the international students themselves; the insurance charge for self-funded international students shall be borne by the international students themselves.

Article 5As to the fact that Ping An Insurance Company of China has been accepted as an insurance company accepting comprehensive insurance for international students awarded with scholarship by Chinese government, and in order to ensure that our university's international students enjoy the same standard of insurance protection, our university has chosen "Comprehensive Medical Insurance for Foreigners Coming to China" of Ping An as the insurance for international students of our university.

Article 6The detailed matters concerning comprehensive insurance for international students shall be implemented according to the specific terms of Ping An Insurance Company of China.

Article 7The methods shall enter into force as of the date of issuance.
